Dear SKS Parents,  I enjoyed seeing so many families at the recentSKS Homecoming . Congrats to our Home & School  and our CYO boards for leading and organizing a great event.  You'll see some great pictures from this event above. The Home & School has done a great job of communicating to you reminder dates that include the Fall Social (10/23)  and a new Trunk or Treat Event (10/29)  both upcoming. Dear SKS Families, The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step.”                                                                             -Chinese Proverb Welcome to my September blog. This blog usually goes out once a month. There’s no rhyme or reason to the written content. It may be an educational/parenting article I found informative. It could be about the [...]

June 23rd

Dear SKS Families, First, a personal thank you for your incredible generosity to the teachers/staff and me. The end of year gift  is so much appreciated by us. Each day at school the teachers and I were encouraged and supported by you. It fueled us. Every teacher/staff member  appreciates being a part of this caring community. There are two letters below copied, I wrote this first letter to our SKS Parishioners for the last church bulletin of the school year.  It summarizes my thoughts as this 2020-2021 came to an end. May 6th

Dear SKS Families,  On behalf of our faculty and staff, I want to wish all our mothers in our school a wonderful Mother’s Day this coming weekend.   In remembrance of our Blessed Mother’s love for her Son, and my mom’s love for my family, I have often made this statement: In no deference to fathers everywhere, there is nothing so deep, so profound, and so selfless as the love of a mother for her children.    Mother's Day is a special time to recognize and appreciate the special bond we share [...]

April 22, 2021

Dear SKS Families, Six summers ago, in late August, I received a phone call from a family in Connecticut who were relocating to our area due to a job transfer.  They were very interested in continuing with Catholic education. Three children were looking to enroll in school and I gladly told their mother, Susan Schuller, that we had openings and we would be happy to have their children join us. Susan then went on to explain that her son, Michael,  entering the second grade, has Down Syndrome.  This conversation started [...]

April 7th

Dear SKS families, Now that spring is here, we return back to school for the homestretch. We continue to stay the course with our safety protocols (as per Suzanne Manion’s email) and also make a commitment to finish the year with our best efforts. For our students we ask them to to do three things: Build their personal relationship with Jesus. Be a kind, caring, compassionate classmate and member of their family.  Finish the school year academically with a positive attitude  Continue to put forth a consistent effort. Academic Scholarships  [...]

Tech Talk

SKS families, One of my favorite sayings to the students is: "At SKS , we do the right thing, because it is the right thing to do."  I would bet you a pretzel if you asked the first half of this quote to a student that has been here a few years, they would be able to finish the quote. Last week I was finally able to reach every homeroom in grades 4- 8 about two very important areas that will follow your children for the remainder of their lives. I am sending this email to the entire [...]

December 24th

Dear SKS Families, This is my last planned message to you for 2020!  It is a simple message of gratitude to our SKS community.  It's a chance for me to thank you for many things: The resilience, flexibility, patience, and grace you have shown as a collective community. I am so proud of our SKS community.  More so, I am grateful. This has been as challenging a time in my 4+ decades of education. I am sure you have found it challenging as well in your profession and for your [...]
